Day 23 - Dulacca to Chinchiila

Day 23 - Dulacca to Chinchilla

So after farewelling Dave and Dawn this morning we had a late start as our trip to Chinchilla was a shot 89klm.

Easy, well think again.    This 89klms had to be the worst stretch of highway we had come across so far.

More bleeding floodways that snuck up on you like a cat chasing a mouse. Bang gotcha!!   The car shook like a jet plane taking off and the caravan made such ungodly noises we thought the bloody wheels were falling off.

So the tactic was to slow down to lessen the impact.   Well this might have worked for the car and caravan but it didn't for the rude bastard who decided to tell us over the CB radio that the speed limit was 110klms and we should get off the road.   This lead to short sharp exchange over the radio and as he finally over took us him getting not one bird but two.

Now this coupled with the condition of the road, the shaking and rattling of the car really put Georgie in a great mood.      If I thought he was going to do damage to the bloke who took his drill then the rude CB guy was lucky he didn't stop anywhere between overtaking us and when we stopped at Miles because the volcano simmering away in our car would have erupted.

It pissed poor Georgie of so badly he didn't even have usually morning tea when we stopped at Miles.

After leaving Miles we travelled onto Chinchilla where our stop was at Clover Hill Ranch on the banks of Charley's Creek.

It took us awhile to decide where to actually put the van but after discussing the pros and cons of a few sights we were pretty chuffed with our home for the next couple of nights.

I got to set up my outside office with my secretary for a couple of hours work.

We enjoyed a night by the fire which was really relaxing.
