Day 2 - Maitland - Day 2

 

Maitland - 8 August 2022

So today we spent some time wandering the streets of Maitland.

Maitland was founded in 1820 and its only 3m above sea level.   It is situated on the Hunter River and is protected from moderate flooding by a levee.   There are many historic buildings as well as a local brickworks, and an open cut mine.

We also caught up with Daria on Monday night for dinner which was an enjoyable well over due "catch up on life" session.

We found these two suspicious looking characters hanging around outside the pub where we had dinner.

Maitland Showground, where we have camped for the last two nights, is right beside the race track and we have enjoyed the trotters and came home to the dog racing tonight.  

No trouble seeing our way to the van tonight.
